At just 17, Ryan Steinberg has already established himself as a versatile and committed player on the diamond. Representing Syosset, NY, and Syosset High School, Ryan has become a key member of the Maccabi Baseball community, bringing skill, leadership, and a strong connection to his Jewish identity both on and off the field.
Ryan’s Maccabi journey began in 2024, and over the past two years, he has created memories that will last a lifetime. His favorite moment? “Winning gold in 2024,” a triumph that highlights the teamwork, dedication, and perseverance he brings to every game. More than the victories, being part of Team Maccabi has helped Ryan grow personally. “It grew my Jewish spirit,” he shares, emphasizing how the experience has strengthened his sense of identity and community.
Ryan’s baseball journey began 12 years ago, and since then, he’s played for programs such as MVP and Elite, developing into a skilled shortstop and captain of the infield. He loves playing shortstop because of the responsibility it demands and the leadership role it provides. “You have to set the tone for the defense,” Ryan explains—a role he embraces wholeheartedly.
When asked who has influenced his baseball path, Ryan points to Derek Jeter, whose professionalism and leadership on and off the field have inspired him to strive for excellence. These lessons have guided Ryan as he pursues his baseball goals, which include playing at the college level, while also focusing on his future career aspirations in real estate.
Beyond the diamond, Ryan has a fun and unexpected side. “I’m a good cook,” he says, revealing a talent that shows his creativity and discipline extend beyond baseball.
Ryan Steinberg is more than an athlete; he is a proud representative of his community, a young man embracing his Jewish identity, and a player whose dedication and passion for the game promise a bright future both on and off the field.
