Jake Brooks Perfect at the Plate as Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U Rolls Past Midwest Legends, 17-1

Jake Brooks was perfect at the plate, the offense erupted for 13 hits, and Jack Goldberg delivered five strong no hit innings on the mound as the Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U cruised to a 17-1 victory over the Midwest Legends Monday at Jaguar Field at Blue Valley West High School.

Brooks went 3-for-3, collecting three singles and also drawing a walk as Hammer’s offense consistently pressured the Midwest Legends pitching staff.

The Hammer wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the top of the first, Jesse Lishinsky tripled to center field to drive in a run, and Cooper Forrest followed by grounding out to bring another run home, giving Hammer an early 2-0 advantage.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the second inning when a passed ball allowed another run to score.

The Hammer then broke the game open in the third, scoring five runs on five hits. Hunter Kass delivered an RBI single, Brandon Rosen followed with a two-run single, Caleb Leichtman reached on a walk that brought home another run, and Justin Lebowitz capped the rally with an RBI single.

The offensive onslaught continued in the fifth. The Hammer scored five more runs on just two hits, taking advantage of walks and timely hitting. Brooks drew a bases-loaded walk to force home a run, Zack Oland followed with an RBI single, and Noah Gross delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a three-run double.

By the time the dust settled, The Hammer had built a commanding 14-1 lead and added three more runs to finish off the 17-1 victory.

While the offense provided plenty of fireworks, Goldberg quietly turned in a terrific performance on the mound.

The right-hander worked five innings, allowing no hits and one run while striking out six and walking three. He kept the Midwest Legends hitters off balance throughout the afternoon and turned the game over to the offense with the Hammer firmly in control.

Goldberg's effort earned him the victory.

The Hammer's offense was remarkably productive up and down the lineup, collecting 13 hits and drawing 13 walks.

Gross went 1-for-1 and drove in a team-high three runs, while Lebowitz, Kass and Sam Kay each collected multiple hits.

Caleb Leichtman and Jake Brooks helped set the table throughout the game, while Dash Marcus, Cooper Forrest, Cole Eichner and Leichtman each drew two walks.

The Hammer also played clean defense, committing zero errors and turning a double play. 

The Midwest Legends were led offensively by Drew Rosenblum, who drove in their lone run. Jordan Stein stole two bases.

With the victory, Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U continued its strong run through the Maccabi Games with their 14th straight win over 3 years.

The Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U first got on the board when Jesse Lishinsky singled, scoring one run.

The Hammer keeps swinging.

And on Monday, it swung its way to another victory, this time defeating Gezer, Israel, 6-2.

The Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U put together another impressive performance, overcoming an early deficit and taking control of the game when it mattered most.

Gezer struck first in the opening inning, but The Hammer wasn't about to panic.

Instead, they answered.

In the bottom of the second, Chase Eichner doubled to center field, and Caleb Leichtman followed with a sacrifice fly, with each bringing home a run as The Hammer grabbed a 2-1 lead.

The Hammer added another run in the third when Sam Kay grounded out, extending the advantage to 3-1.

From there, the pitching staff took over.

Noah Gross earned the victory, surrendering no hits and no runs in his inning of work while striking out three. Justin Lebowitz closed things out to earn the save, while Dash Marcus and Kay also contributed on the mound.

Offensively, Cole Eichner and Jake Brooks each collected two hits. Lebowitz went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.

The final score says 6-2, but it put the Hammer closer to their collective goal of a 3-Peat and moved the winning streak to 15.

Having secured the #1 spot in the tournament and earned a first-round bye, the Sid Jacobson JCC Hammer 17U carried their momentum into the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U won big over the Midwest Legends, 13-4, on Wednesday to move onto the Gold Medal game.

Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sam Kay tripled, scoring two runs, and Jake Brooks grounded out, scoring one run.

A single by Hunter Kass extended the Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

The Midwest Legends tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a groundout by Nathan Katz, a single by Judd Brown, and a single by Corey Woolf.

In the bottom of the third inning, Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U went back into the lead after Jesse Lishinsky tripled to right field, Brooks singled to center field, Cooper Forrest tripled to center field, and Caleb Leichtman singled, with each hit driving in a run.

Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U added five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Justin Lebowitz singled, scoring one run, Chase Eichner singled, scoring one run, Kay tripled, scoring two runs, and Brooks singled, scoring one run.

Woolf took the loss for the Midwest Legends, allowing eight runs on seven hits over two and one-third innings while striking out two and walking one. Lebowitz collected the save.

Brown led the Midwest Legends with two runs batted in, going 2-for-3. The center fielder also stole two bases. The Hammer now has won 18 straight and move onto the finals for the third straight year.

Jake Brooks dominated on the mound, striking out 10 over five innings as Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U defeated the PHL/CO/JAX/SD/SF/SI team, 12-2, Tuesday at Jaguar Field at Blue Valley West High School.

Brooks allowed just one hit and two runs while walking four in the complete five-inning performance.

Hammer 17U broke the game open with eight runs in the third inning. Jack Goldberg and Jesse Lishinsky each delivered RBI singles, while Sam Kay and Brooks also drove in runs. Noah Gross provided the big blow with a three-run triple, and another run scored on a wild pitch.

Hammer added four more runs in the fifth. Justin Lebowitz launched a two-run home run to left field, and Kay followed with a two-run single to put the game out of reach.

The Hammer collected 10 hits, led by two each from Lebowitz and Lishinsky. Kay and Gross drove in three runs apiece, while Kay also drew two walks. The team showed patience throughout the game, drawing six walks, and swiped six bases.

The victory continued Hammer 17U’s strong run at the Maccabi Games pushing its streak to 16 with the team now preparing for its next matchup against the 3-0Hudson Maccabi 17U in a battle to determine the number one seed.

Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U Defeats Hudson Maccabi 17U In Pitcher's Duel to cap off the 3-Peat

Both teams were strong on the mound on Thursday, but Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U defeated Hudson Maccabi 17U 3-2. Dash Marcus started the game for Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U and recorded four outs.

A walk by Jesse Lishinsky put Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U on the board in the bottom of the first.

Hudson Maccabi 17U jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after Alex Abramson walked, and Sid Jacobson Maccabi Hammer 17U committed an error, each scoring one run.
