At just 16, Josh Itzikowitz is carving out his own path on the diamond. Representing Port Washington, NY, Josh has become a versatile force for his teams, excelling both in the outfield and on the mound. His Maccabi Baseball journey is already packed with memories, confidence, and pride in his Jewish identity.

Josh’s first taste of the JCC Maccabi Games came in 2025, and his favorite highlight wasn’t just on the field—it was hanging out with his teammates in the dorms late into the night. That bond showed him something bigger than baseball: “It opened my eyes to the power that comes from being on a team with a common goal. Everyone pitched in and played a role on the team.”

Josh’s baseball story stretches back to his earliest memories—he’s been playing his entire life. Along the way, he’s suited up for his middle school and high school teams, the Port Washington Legends, and Showtime Select National. But his heart belongs to center field, a position he’s grown to love. “I love the feeling of being in charge of the outfield,” he says, relishing the responsibility that comes with patrolling the grass.

When it comes to influences, Josh doesn’t have to look far. His twin brother has been his biggest inspiration, pushing him to grow as both a player and a person. That drive fuels Josh’s ambitions: he hopes to play in college, maybe even beyond. Off the field, he’s just as determined, with the goal “to be the best student I can be and to graduate with the highest degree that I can.”

Josh’s favorite big-league player is Mike Trout—an easy choice for a young center fielder who values speed, leadership, and all-around excellence. And while most people know Josh as an outfielder today, there’s a lesser-known part of his story: he once played catcher before an elbow injury forced him to switch positions. “I tore my growth plate in my elbow, so I became an outfielder,” he shares—a setback that turned into an opportunity to shine in a new role.

For Josh Itzikowitz, baseball is about much more than statistics or wins and losses. It’s about community, identity, and the joy of playing the game he loves while proudly representing who he is. His story, like his swing, is just getting started.
