JAKE BROOKS

Hometown: Roslyn, NY

Positions: First Base, Pitcher

For Jake Brooks, baseball has been more than a game—it’s been a lifelong journey of growth, leadership, and pride. Representing Roslyn, NY, and Roslyn High School, Jake has emerged as both a reliable presence on the field and a proud representative of his community through the JCC Maccabi Games.
Jake’s Maccabi debut came in 2025, and his favorite memory wasn’t a single play or big win—it was the friendships he built and the fun he shared, both inside and outside of the dugout. “Making new friends and having a good time in and out of the dugout” is what stood out most, a reminder that the Maccabi experience is as much about connection as it is about competition.
That experience also shaped him as a person. “Being part of Maccabi helped me become a better leader and showed that Jewish athletes can compete at very high levels,” Jake reflects. Representing his Jewish identity was equally powerful: “It was of great importance because it shows that Jews from Long Island are motivated to succeed and are respectful both on and off the field. Being part of Maccabi allowed me to realize that we should all be proud of being Jewish.”
Jake has been playing baseball for 12 years, suiting up primarily for Roslyn Baseball. While he’s capable at both first base and on the mound, he especially enjoys pitching. “I like pitching because I use my physical ability and my mind to get hitters out,” he explains—a perfect blend of strategy and strength that fuels his competitiveness.
When it comes to influences, Jake looks no further than his dad and his coaches, who have guided him at every step of his journey. His baseball goals are simple but powerful: “to always get better.” Beyond the diamond, Jake is focused on his academics, with the goal of being a successful college student.
Jake’s baseball inspiration is Chris Sale, the fiery left-handed pitcher whose mix of dominance and intensity mirrors the mindset Jake brings to the mound. And while most know him for his baseball skills, there’s another side to him as well—Jake is an avid golfer, finding joy and challenge on the greens in addition to the diamond.
Jake Brooks is more than just a pitcher or first baseman—he’s a leader, a teammate, and a proud Jewish athlete representing Roslyn and Long Island with integrity and determination. His story is still being written, one pitch, one swing, and one friendship at a time.
