For Jake Brooks, baseball has been more than a game—it has been a lifelong journey of growth, competition, leadership, and pride. Representing Roslyn, NY, and Roslyn High School, Jake has developed into a talented two-way player while embracing the opportunity to represent his community and Jewish identity through the JCC Maccabi Games.

Jake’s Maccabi journey began in 2025, and he returned in 2026, becoming part of two consecutive gold-medal teams. His favorite Maccabi memory came from celebrating those championships with his teammates. “My favorite memory was celebrating with my teammates after winning the gold medal in both 2025 and 2026,” Jake says. With the Long Island delegation winning three consecutive gold medals, Jake is proud to have been part of the final two championship teams and to have helped continue that tradition of excellence.

Being part of Team Maccabi also taught Jake lessons that went far beyond baseball. “It taught me the importance of teamwork, determination, and representing something bigger than myself,” he explains. The experience helped him become a better teammate on the field while allowing him to build friendships that will last long after the games ended.

Representing his Jewish identity was equally meaningful. “I was proud to compete alongside other Jewish athletes and represent New York while playing the sport I love.” For Jake, Maccabi provided the opportunity to combine his passion for baseball with the pride he feels in his Jewish heritage and his Long Island community.

Jake has been playing baseball since he was six years old and has played for MVP Baseball and Roslyn Baseball. Although he contributes at both first base and pitcher, his primary position is on the mound. “I love being involved in every play, competing against each hitter, and helping set the tone for my team,” he says. As a left-handed pitcher, Jake also enjoys using that advantage to help give his team an edge.

His biggest influence throughout his baseball career has been his dad. Jake credits him with always supporting his dreams, encouraging him to work hard, and helping him maintain confidence through both the successes and challenges that come with playing the game.

Jake’s baseball goals are clear: continue improving throughout high school and earn the opportunity to play college baseball at the highest level possible. Off the field, he hopes to attend a strong college where he can challenge himself academically, explore his interests, and prepare for a successful career while continuing to play the sport he loves.

It is fitting that Jake’s favorite MLB player is another Jewish left-handed pitcher—Max Fried. Jake admires Fried’s competitiveness, composure, and success at the highest level of baseball, making him a natural inspiration for a young lefty with college baseball aspirations of his own.

And when Jake isn’t on the baseball field, you may find him on a golf course. He enjoys playing golf in his free time, giving him another way to compete, challenge himself, and enjoy time away from the diamond.

Jake Brooks is more than a pitcher or first baseman. He is a two-time Maccabi gold medalist, a dedicated teammate, a proud Jewish athlete, and a young man determined to keep pushing himself toward his goals. From his first baseball experiences at age six to standing on the podium with his Maccabi teammates, Jake’s journey is one built on hard work, family, friendship, and the belief that there is always another level to reach.
