For Holden Cohn, baseball has always been about more than just the game. From Short Hills, NJ, and Millburn High School, Holden has built a reputation as a strong catcher, a natural leader, and a proud Jewish athlete whose Maccabi journey has shaped both his play and his perspective.
Holden’s Maccabi experience came in 2024, and his favorite memory came on Rice’s Baseball Field, where he and his teammates captured gold. “Winning gold with the boys on Rice’s baseball field” stands out as a highlight, but the impact went deeper. “On the field it made me feel like I was playing for something bigger than myself. Off the field, I made lots of new friends and awesome Jewish connections,” he shares. Representing his community filled him with pride: “I felt pride in doing it and it made me feel happy about my Jewish identity.”
Holden has been playing baseball since he was three years old, competing with programs like the Axemen, MA Show, Rebels, PRD, and Titans. Behind the plate is where he feels most at home. “I love catching because I get to control the game and I’m in every play,” he says—a role that reflects both his toughness and his leadership.
His inspiration? JT Realmuto. “He’s a stud catcher that can do it all,” Holden explains. He also admires Bryce Harper for his fire and intensity. That mix of respect for great players and his own drive fuels Holden’s goals: he wants to play Division I baseball at a high academic school. Beyond the field, he dreams of starting his own business, carrying the same discipline and ambition into his career.
And while Holden is laser-focused between the lines, there’s a lighter side to him as well—he’s a surprisingly good cook, a skill that shows off his creativity and patience outside of baseball.
Holden Cohn is more than just a catcher—he’s a leader, a competitor, and a proud representative of his Jewish community. With big goals, strong values, and a love for the game, his story is just beginning.
